Excitement of Educational Toys

May 9th, 2008

To raise a child smart and bright,
The tools you use, are must be right!

To build a long-lasting beautiful house you will need: the right tools, the high quality material and a knowledgeable person to do that. Nobody will start building a house without proper education, great understanding and a proven plan. And no house can be built without strong and solid foundation.

Don’t you agree raising an intelligent, smart child is a similar process? Don’t you think that to be just a Parent is not enough? Don’t you feel we, as parents, have a great deal of responsibility; the house we are building should not collapse under the wind, should survive earthquakes and hurricanes? Do we have a sufficient education? Do we have the right tools ? Do we use the materials of the highest quality? Sometimes, choosing the right answer is quite a puzzling task.

There is no need to get a bachelor degree in parenting , and diploma is not required to raise a child. Clear vision, great determination and desire are essential in this challenging and exciting process. And it is crucially important to understand and be aware of what the right tools are. With tons of information and commercials coming our way every day, it is a bit confusing to make the best choice for your child. What should we consider: computer game or developmental puzzle game; electronic toy or simple educational wooden toy; Barbie doll or old-fashion bright hand puppet? With a lot of factors to think about, choosing the right toy of an educational, developing and learning nature is a very difficult job.

A child’s brain develops in a predictable sequence from the least complex functions to the most complex. The interaction of our genetic inheritance (nature) and environment (nurture) determines how child brain will develop. Providing our children with the right educational toys ensures ongoing stimulation and properly balanced child development. Our experiences affect our brain development. What we see, hear, smell, taste and touch are experiences, which make connections in our brain and make us smarter. Connections that we repeat become stronger. To find the most appropriate educational toys that stimulate child developmental, learning progress and fun for children to play with, it is vitally important. Choosing the right developmental toys and games will create the most wonderful and motivating experience for your child.

Ignite the passion for learning in your child with exciting and inspiring educational toys and games! There are many great child activities to try: color and shapes recognition, first letters and early reading, imaginative and logical thinking or basic math practice - just to name a few. There are games, which are easy to play, but teach like tutor, and the others - are exciting board games and stimulating activity for all family. Educational toys and games are simple and fun way to capture children’s attention and interest. At the same time, they playfully challenge children to learn and master life essential skills.

Follow your own instincts; memorize your own childhood with books, games and plain toys . Spend more quality time with your children, play and interact with them, read and tell them stories. Do not let your kids sit alone with electronic toy or in front of the computer or TV for long hours! Chose right, and enjoy watching your precious child growing strong, smart and capable of any achievement!

Meeting Your Family’s Health Needs With An HSA

May 9th, 2008

Making sure that your family is able to stay healthy partly depends on having a good health insurance program for them. One of the more recent new additions to the health insurance industry is called the Health Savings Account (HSA). This new program enables you to have reduced insurance rates because of a higher deductible, and a tax deferred savings program with it. Here are some of the features of this program.

Reduced Rates

By getting a health insurance program with a high deductible, you are able to greatly reduce your monthly premiums. This is an especially good way to go, if you are younger and currently have pretty good health. The deductible amounts are pre-determined by the government, and you are required to have deductible amounts between $1,050 and $5,250 for singles, and it needs to be between $2,100 and $10,500 for families.

Savings Are Tax Exempt

One of the great benefits of this type of plan is that, like an IRA, you enjoy tax-free income, and interest on the amounts you have in the program. You can put into the plan money that comes off the top of your taxes. There are limits, though, and for singles it is up to $2,700, and for families it is $5,450. A little extra benefit is that you are able to take off of your taxes any money that is deposited into the account all the way up to April 15th. So, if you are coming up to tax time, and find you need to reduce your taxes some more, you can put it into your HSA, and find the tax break you need.

Better Coverage

The new HSA’s have an extra real nice feature - they cover more. Some things that you may not have been covered for under another type of policy, you may find that you are covered for with an HSA. This could actually allow you to get a better coverage for less. Things like dental coverage, therapy, even non-prescription medicines and some alternative treatments may also be covered, and even some mental illness treatments, too.

You Keep Control

Under an HSA, you are the one in control of the money. It is yours to use. You can take money out of the account when you want, but only the money that is used only for medical purposes is tax-exempt. Generally, you will be given a card, like a credit card, that gives you access to the account. Whenever you use money from the account, the insurance company automatically gets a receipt, and it is subtracted from your account, and your deductible - and it remains tax exempt.

Like any other insurance policy, once you have paid the deductible amounts, the rest is up to the insurer to pay. By having the high deductible you reduce the premiums considerably. The savings account can also provide a good hedge for your medical insurance program for the future, too, because any money not used toward the deductible remains your money - to use next year, if you need it. On the other hand, the money in your HSA might also be used to provide some money for retirement - assuming you maintain your good health.

The Perfect Catch: Planning A Fishing Vacation

May 9th, 2008

When planning for a fishing vacation the first thing you have to know is what type of fishing would you like to do. There are so many different types from fly fishing to deep sea fishing to lake fishing that it is hard choose from, especially from the avid angler. If you care more for the location than the type of fish than pick a place you would like to go and see if those places have fishing nearby, which they probably do.

Many fishing trips are also planned depending on what time of year it is. In some bodies of water the fish bite more than at others for various reasons. When planning a fishing trip look into the fishing conditions at the place that you want to go and try to go when there is a better chance of the fish biting.

The type of trip also is based on the type of fish you want to catch because obviously you aren’t going to go fly fishing if you want to catch a marlin. If you want a certain type of fish scout out where they are and go from there. When planning a fishing vacation there are so many things that factor in tow what trip you want to take by knowing what you want out of the trip it makes it that much easier to plan for it.

Lodging is also important when planning a fishing trips because many times the fish bite better early in the morning so you want to stay as close to the fishing area as possible. Look at lodges, hotels, and campsites beforehand and if you picked the trip make sure to make reservations well ahead of time as you don’t want to get to a place that is full only to have to go further from the fishing spot.

The most important thing to know when planning a fishing trip is what type of trip you want to take, whether it be by fish, area, or fishing style, knowing this will make the planning much easier.

German Shepherd Coat Colors And Patterns Vary Greatly

May 9th, 2008

Genetics of German Shepherd Coat Colors

Concerning the GSD and German Shepherd coat colors, the breed standard from the SV specifically states: The color of the GSD is in itself not important and has no effect on the character of the dog or on its fitness for work and should be a secondary consideration for that reason. The final color of a young dog can only be ascertained when the outer coat has developed.

Of all undesirable things to try to eliminate and to consider in a German Shepherd Dog, coat color should be at the bottom of the list. Good pigment should be sought after but many factors such as health and temperament, to name a few, should be much more important than coat color which should always be subordinate to structure, gait, type, and character and should never take precedence over the working ability of the dog. Eye color should be dark and nose pigment should be black as well.

Concerning the coat coat of the German Shepherd, the SV breed standard states the following: The normal (stock) coated GSD should carry a thick undercoat and the outer coat should be as dense as possible, made up of straight hard close lying hairs. The hair on the head and ears, front of the legs, paws and toes is short. On the neck it is longer and thicker, on some males forming a slight ruff. The hair grows longer on the back of the legs as far down as the pastern and the stifle, and forms fairly thick trousers on the hindquarters. There is no hard or fast rule for the length of the hair, but short mole-type coats are faulty. No good dog is a bad color — Max von Stephanitz (breed founder of the German Shepherd Dog) concerning German Shepherd coat colors

Ask just about anybody to describe a German Shepherd Dog and they will almost always mention the saddle Back markings. It is also just as possible for the GSD to be one solid color such as black (solid white is considered a conformation disqualification for showing by the AKC) or sable. Sable German Shepherd coat colors are easily identified by multi-colored individual hairs all over the body. Sable GSD’s may also be masked by dark or black guard hairs.

German Shepherd coat color patterns may include any of the following: black & tan, black & red, black & cream, solid black, solid white, (considered a conformation disqualification), sable (also called agouti or wolf gray, in various colorations), black & silver, liver (rare - conformation fault) and blue (rare - considered a conformation fault).

Richer pigmentation is preferred, color wise. While I won’t delve deeply into the science of genetics (feel free to do that on your own if interested), just know that the liver color comes as the result of matched recessives in the black series and the blue color happens as the result of matched recessives in the dilution series.

German Shepherd coat colors and inheritance in the GSD is very complex and controlled by several series of genes. Following is a very brief description and summary of the various gene series in the GSD responsible for color based on information from The German Shepherd Dog: A Genetic History and Practical Genetics for Dog Breeders , both by Malcom Willis. Both of these books should be considered as required reading for any serious German Shepherd fan and even more importantly for breeders. Another suggested resource is The German Shepherd Today by Winifred Strickland and James Jimmy Moses.

THE AGOUTI SERIES

The basic body color of the German Shepherd is controlled by the genes. The order of German Shepherd coat colors dominance is as follows: golden sable, grey sable, saddle marked black and tan, bicolor* black and tan (bicolor is where the dog only has tan on the legs and face, not on the body), and black.

Additionally, know that the black gene is recessive to all the other colors in GSD’s.

Solid black German Shepherds bred to solid blacks German Shepherds will only produce blacks. The sable colors are dominant over the other colors and patterns in the German Shepherd breed.

THE BLACK SERIES

This gene controls the black pigment formation on the GSD, not the hair color. The German Shepherd coat colors order of dominance is exactly as follows: Black pigment including nose, eyerims and pads; Carrier for liver color; Liver color - brown black colors, brown nose, eye rims and pads.

Note: most GSDs are considered black pigment including nose, eyerims and pads.

THE WHITE SERIES

White coat color in the German Shepherd Dog is recessive to all other colors. In order to get a white coat color in the German Shepherd, both parents must carry the white gene (either be white themselves or be carriers.) The order of dominance is as follows: Melanin is produced. (Standard GSD’s colors have this); Partial albinism (not seen); White coat with dark eyes and nose (not albino); Yellowish coat collar (proposed).

THE COLOR SERIES

This controls the intensity of the non-black coloration. The order of dominance is as follows: Lightest tan (cream); Intermediate tan (tan); Darkest tan (red).

The intensity of the color series determines whether GSD’s with color (i.e. not all- black or all-white recessives) will be black & cream, black & tan or black & red.

Coat Lengths in GSD’s

Short-coated German Shepherd’s maintain a short coat, which lies close to the body.

These dogs usually have less undercoat.

Plush Coated GSD’s have a medium length coat with a thin, fluffy under coat.

These dogs do not have any feathering as in the long coated GSD’s.

Long coated German Shepherd’s have much longer fur around their ears, on the backs of their legs, chest and tail (feathering) than other German Shepherd’s.

THE DILUTION SERIES

This controls how intense the black pigment will appear on your German Shepherd.

The order of dominance is as follows: Dense pigment; blue dilution.

Black pigment combined with blue dilution will produce a blue coated German Shepherd which looks as though it has a dusty or flour sheen.

THE MASK SERIES

This controls whether or not a mask appear on your German Shepherd. The order of dominance is as follows: a black mask on the face; dark coat with no mask; Brindle (rare, will be seen as striping on the legs); clear tan.

All these genes put together determine your own German Shepherd’s coat colors.

Some Helpful Tips For Remortgaging Your Home Loan

May 9th, 2008

Preparing to remortgage your home loan

Nearly half of all mortgage applications are for remortgages. If you are considering remortgaging your home loan, here are some things you can do to get ready:

1. Check the current interest rates.

Traditional wisdom says you should remortgage your home if the interest rate drops at least two percentage points lower than your current interest rate.

However, if the current interest rate is only 1% or 1.5% less than your current interest rate, you can still save money over the term of your mortgage. You want your interest rate to go down by at least 5/8%, or you won’t save enough money to be worth the cost of remortgaging.

2. Consider how long you plan to stay in your home.

The interest rate is not the only factor you should consider when deciding whether go for a remortgage.

Keep in mind how long you plan to stay in your home. You need to stay put long enough to recover the costs of remortgaging.

If your new interest rate is 1.5% less than your current interest rate, you generally need to stay in your home more than three years to make the remortgage worth the fees.

3. Check your credit rating.

Check your credit rating before you filling out any remortgage applications. If there are any problems with your credit, you can take a little time to fix them before proceeding. This is especially true if there are out-of-date or incorrect entries on your credit report.

It’s a bit of a chore to send off the letters and keep up the correspondence, but if someone were to say they’d give you a grand to do it (i.e. the amount you might save with a better deal), you’d do it!

4. Check the value of your home.

You will need to have your home appraised. But for now, just check the selling price of similar homes in your area. Has the value of your home gone up or down since you bought it?

5. Decide if you want to use the equity in your home to get cash out.

If the value of your home has gone up, you can remortgage for a higher amount than what you owe, and get cash out for school, vacation, home improvements, or to start a new business.

For myself, I’d only use such money to set up something that would make money, or to fund a child’s education; it’s much better for your peace of mind to have low monthly outgoings than a fancy holiday or car.

6. Make sure you have cash to cover the refinancing costs.

You will have the same fees and expenses you did when you first purchased your home, including a home appraisal, closing costs, and other fees and points. Further, while you may be able to remortgage with no points or closing costs, your interest rate could be higher. And there is no reason to remortgage if you are going to end up with a higher interest rate!

7. Talk to lenders.

You should talk to several lenders to see what the current interest rates are and how much money you will need. Then figure out what your new payment would be if you remortgaged and how long it would take to recover the costs.

8. Adjust your mortgage term.

When you remortgage, you can take the opportunity to change your mortgage term. Maybe you originally took out a 15-year mortgage, but want to remortgage to a longer loan term so you can have more cash each month. Or (much better) maybe you want to reduce your mortgage term from 30 years to 15 or even 10, and get your mortgage paid off more quickly. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics GP Integration Manager

May 8th, 2008

Microsoft Dynamics GP advanced Integration Manager techniques: VBA scripting, advanced ODBC queries, translation

Integration Manager itself is often considered as end-user tool. However it is also powerful in custom integration, and here we would like to give you some directions and highlights. Before coming to technologies, we should tell you that integration manager integration validates GP business logic and so is the most reliable and probably in many cases preferable way. In some cases, IM performance might not be sufficient (when you move to GP thousands of transactions every hour, for example), however as IM will be rewritten in eConnect - its performance should suffuse such challenging data feedings as well

? Text documents. When you need to import report-like text file, containing for instance AP invoices with line items, here you need to design advanced ODBC queries. One query will be providing Invoice header, the second one will be giving Invoice lines or items. ODBC has some restrictions, it is not full-featured SQL environment, however it supports select with such clauses as where, group, etc.

? VBA scripting. Yes, it is still valid for version 9.0 of Dynamics GP. VBA scripting allows you to do such advanced things as make ODBC connection to cross-platform: Oracle DB, IBM DBII, Pervasive SQL, Ctree/Faircomm, Progress, etc, get info from there and apply business logic to incoming data, based on the cross-platform SQL query

? Translation. When you accept source field as incoming data, you may decide to translate incoming value to what it has to be in GP. Look translation feature for the field. Translation values could be even copied from Excel table

? Before Document Script. This scrip will allow you to reject text lines, that are line feed, carriage return, etc. It is helpful when you are importing data from text reports, produced by one of your legacy systems

? Spoke and Hub ERP model. You may have situation, when your headquarters uses GP and subsidiaries non-Microsoft MRP platforms, such as Oracle Financials/eBusiness Suite/Applications, SAP Business One, Microsiga, Peachtree, MYOB, SAGE, MAS 2000, etc. In this case IM may help you with data consolidation. Typically you need GL level consolidation. IM can process IDE type of file or even structured report (with VBA scripting and advanced ODBC queries)

? Beyond Integration Manager. If you are comfortable with .Net, C#, VB, XML Web Services you can program advanced integration with eConnect - feel free to use Microsoft Visual Studio.Net

Do Affiliate Sites Really Make Money?

May 8th, 2008

Of course! Many, many people make all kinds of money with affiliate sites and affiliate programs!

The fact is, only 5% who sign up for them ever become rich, but it is NOT usually because of the program! It is because the ‘buyer’ never gets past step two in a 200 step process. ALL businesses take time and effort to build. By the way, 5% is a very large number so don’t think for a second that you can not be in that group!

Basically, if you get involved in ANY business thinking it will be simple, the joke is on you! However, even the simplest of minds are capable of great things!

It doesn’t really matter what program you get involved with. It is possible to create wealth from all of them!

I say that because there are all kinds of people on this planet and the Internet is still growing like crazy. There will always be ‘newbies’ and there will always be ‘gurus’ and everything in between. Simply put, there is almost no way NOT to make money if you possess one simple trait… perseverance. With perseverance comes knowledge, with knowledge comes power, and with power comes wealth.

Just don’t blow your wad in one shot. Find a program that you think you can stay active with physically, mentally, and financially. Never give up and never listen to negative people! Garbage in… garbage out!

Keep in mind, even the ‘gurus’ started out as ‘newbies’!

All in all, there is so much that can be learned from affiliate sites and other such programs. Compared to a college education or a ‘brick and mortar’ franchise - $49 is nothing! I myself have literally spent hundreds on such programs and I don’t regret a thing!

Before all the parents get mad at me… I don’t discourage college! Kids - go to college! There is more to college than book learning even though that can be very beneficial too. You can not get that unique life experience from anywhere else!

Back to the subject… relatively speaking, there really are few ’scams’ on the internet. Even if you are gullible enough to fall for a real stinky scam - you still learned something and that in of itself is worth something! Do not be afraid to make mistakes! That will only hold you back.

Again, one of my favorite quotes:

“Those who have not achieved success, simply haven’t made enough mistakes.” - Robert Keowlasky

Math Teacher for Sportsman

May 8th, 2008

Have you heard of the new energy drink? “High powered Math Shake - Gulp one down today and say goodbye to your weak math forever.” Even I haven’t.

But what if such a thing really exists. Wouldn’t that be great for the sportsmen in particular and sports in general ? Our would-be world champs be then able to concentrate on their game better and stop worrying about their upcoming Math paper. Unfortunately, for now such a product is not available at your local drug store ( or for that matter anywhere else ).

But thankfully there is an easier way of teaching math to a sportsman.

Sports and Math.

Can sports and math go hand in hand ? It is common to find many talented soccer and basketball players, swimmers, athletes, gymnasts and other sportsmen struggling with Math. As it is the Math problems are plaguing the students of all grades, age and aptitude but the math problems of the sportsman are particularly severe. That is because sports man hardly gets time in between his rigorous training sessions to study math and whenever he does, then also the textbook appears to be written in Chinese.

Sport skills Vs Math skills.

Does muscular flexibility come at the cost of mental ability ? Working as a Math tutor I have been teaching Math to state level soccer players, swimmers, athletes and even to amateur boxers ( thank God I teach math online ). I have found that many of them have weak math fundamentals but almost all of them have high analytical ability ( the most important raw material to learn math). It has now been even scientifically proved that sportsman’s brain has greater ability to form synaptic pathways ( temporary circuits ) that lead to faster analysis of the problem. Understandably so, as their brain is trained to make split second decisions in the nick of time.

The Ideal Math teacher for Sportsman.

The top shoe companies like Nike and Adidas make specially designed shoes and apparels for their star athlete to dramatically enhance his performance. Similarly a sports man requires a Math tutor who can custom design a Math lesson for his specific needs. This is how a math lesson should be made for a sportsman.

1. Keep the Math lesson like a 100 meter dash : Sportspersons find it difficult to sit down still and concentrate for long hours ( I am not talking about the chess players ). They become restless soon. But the level of concentration they can generate in spurts is amazing. So Math tutor should make sure that Math lesson is kept short yet power packed.

2. Build his Math basics first : Before you can teach a person how to hit a home run, you must teach him how to grip the bat. Even born world champs need to get their basics right. So begin from the very beginning. Once the sportsman is taught the right way of solving math problems, he starts picking up the rest of math pretty fast. Always remember that the mind of a sportsperson is trained to repeat an action to perfection.

3. Stop being his tutor, start being his trainer : Stop preaching a sports man theories of Math. Tell him straightway the action he needs to do in order to get to the answer. I call this a one jab knockout technique. This way you make the sportsperson play at his strength.

4. Teach sportsperson Math in the language he understands : The secret to learn math lies in making your brain relate to it. This way you not only learn Math faster but effortlessly as well. It is not so difficult to understand why athletes pick up fast the topic of time, speed and distance, while snooker players are so good at doing coordinate geometry. The math tutor should make it a point to give interesting stories and examples from the sporting world to drive home the math lesson.

This kind of Math tutoring for sportsman will make sure that learning math is as easy for him as gulping down a protein shake ( provided it is not that awful in taste ).

Shahryar Badar is the Director of Glad2teach.com ( an online Math tutoring center ). Glad2teach is a pioneering approach to make Math learner-friendly ( i.e. easy & interesting ) for the students. It helps the student to master his syllabus easily and speedily.

Privacy Invaders: Spyware And Adware Dangers

May 7th, 2008

Do Internet Users Really Mind Big Brother Watching Them?

Let’s get real about who is watching us online. No matter where we go, someone is monitoring our visits. Does this really pose any form of danger? Is this considered a privacy rights violation? It’s simple. Protecting a computer is one of the most important aspects to a computer owner. Protection of software is often the highest importance for many users. One of the fastest ways that a computer can become corrupted is from viruses that attack the computer. Viruses can come in many forms, but is often a result of insufficient protection against software viruses. There can be, however, virus protection software that can be of poor quality, and still allow viruses to filter thru. Just as virus protection is important, so is the security information that is given on a computer.

What’s the big deal?

Your credit card numbers, bank info and social security info are easily transferred to other parties in other countries. I had a client who had the pleasure of overhauling his credit because his identity had been compromised (stolen) for years!

What are these programs?

Spyware (software that records every move you make online)
Adware (secretly added software, both spying and controlling)
and they both are somewhat like a virus.

Is my computer infected?

Have you ever seen your computer make a change that you did not authorize? Don’t risk it! When a computer is being used, there are many websites that can be accessed that have advertisement banners. Once a banner has been clicked on a webpage, Spyware often goes into effect. This means that the company that created the banner will track all actions that a computer user generates. This is to monitor the Internet habits of the individual. Such programs often mention that such information that is collected is often not shared, but the collection of the information alone makes Spyware and Adware a violation to the privacy of the consumer.

Is it only financially dangerous?

No. This is terribly dangerous. Everyday we see children will often give ‘their life story’ by visiting a site or leaving a simple comment. Additionally, Spyware and Adware programs are not only deceiving, but they are intrusive in the lives of those that are unaware of the hidden security dangers that lie ahead. Spending habits, times of Internet usage, and even personal information can all be gathered from Spyware and Adware manipulation. The worst form of information to be addressed with Spyware and Adware is that neither program is illegal. It’s Sad. At this time, those that distribute the programs to gather the personal information can do so without breaking any federal laws. Spyware and Adware have been and continue to be programs that can be created and distributed by any company that is seeking personal information on people. The legal injustices that are associated with both programs, and the lack of attention to the personal security of the public are what bring about many fears of personal safety for many people. There will always be those that are hesitant to use such programs.

My kids use our computer at home. We tried the FREE CHECK-UP and Bingo. We found the bug that was driving us crazy. I recommend the free check up at HTTP://WWW.FLUXBPM.COM -NOSPYWARE. This will alleviate the danger of ‘the Spyware & Adaware Scheme’

As a Spyware victim it is worth it to keep my family and business private. NOSPYWARE works.

The Waltons (Season 2) DVD Review

May 7th, 2008

Nominated for 15 Golden Globes and 25 Emmys, including two for Outstanding Drama Series, The Waltons enjoyed nine seasons of high audience ratings and notable critical acclaim. Premiering on CBS in the Fall of 1972, the hour-long drama series chronicled the lives of a tightly-knit mountain family living during the Depression era. Creator Earl Hamner Jr. based The Waltons on his true-to-life story of growing up in the Hamner family. Noted for its family-oriented subject matter (and absence of torrid sex and violence), The Waltons paved the way for the success of the popular TV series Little House On The Prairie (1974). And, in the aftermath of the cancellation of The Beverly Hillbillies (1962) and Green Acres (1965), proved wrong the assertion of some CBS executives that shows with rural settings were becoming unpopular. Celebrated for its raw depiction of the human experience, The Waltons towers above modern day television dramas by laying claim to the added weight today’s critics give to realism in a series while simultaneously avoiding the bad language, adult content, and gratuitous violence that often accompany those shows which earn such a designation…

The Waltons follows the daily lives of the various members of the Walton family as they make a living working their humble saw mill on Walton’s Mountain in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Set in the 1930’s, the series unfolds through the eyes of John Boy (Richard Thomas). An aspiring writer, John Boy chronicles life on Walton Mountain where his parents, John Sr. (Ralph Waite) and Olivia (Michael Learned), raise their seven children (John Boy, Jason, Mary Ellen, Erin, Ben, Jim-Bob, and Elizabeth) with the aid of live-in grandparents Esther (Ellen Corby) and Zeb (Will Greer) Walton. A wide array of supporting characters live near the Waltons, including Reverend Fordwick (portrayed by Three’s Company star John Ritter), the Godseys, the Baldwins, and various others. As the trials of the Great Depression fade into the tribulations of World War II, the Waltons connect with every facet of the human experience - love, marriage, birth, death, aging, social ills, and the numerous travails of life, making The Waltons one of the most popular shows in television history…

The Waltons (Season 2) DVD features a number of memorable episodes including the season premiere The Journey in which Maggie McKenzie would like to see the ocean one last time in her life, and John Boy agrees to take her, although he must miss an important dance in order to do so. Meanwhile, Grandpa Zeb and the kids nurse and injured bird back to health. This episode is also notable because it boasts of being the only show of series in which creator Earl Hamner (playing the role of Maggie’s wife) appears… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include The Fawn in which Erin nurses an injured fawn back to health while John Boy becomes a collections agent for a notorious landlord, and The Honeymoon in which John Sr. and Olivia enjoy a belated honeymoon in Virginia Beach…
